Web Usability: Text Presentation on a web site
Is the font and size of text on your web site important?
Indeed it is. How many times have you been to web site that has fonts that are either too small for your eyes that you have to squint to even be able to read. Does that frustrate you?
If reading small illegible fonts frustrates you, it will do the same for your potential audiences on your web site if it presents in exactly the same manners as other web sites with "bad fonts".
Researches on web fonts have often inform us the most commonly used fonts size are legible at the 10, 12, and 14 point size.
In addition, the background colours of your font supporting the text will make a difference in the readability of the text. It is important to have contrasting colours between your background and your font colours to make reading easier for the audiences.
Importantly, if you are an experienced web designer and you are not comfortably surfing the web site that you have designed. Stop and look at the parts which are you are not satisfy because your audiences are not likely to be satisfed too.
